Pneumatic Pipe Plugs

🚧 When pipes constantly run at capacity, the only way to maintain and inspect these assets is to temporarily stop or divert the flow. Recently, we faced such a challenge with a 375mm stormwater culvert under a State Highway. Upon arrival on a sunny day with no recent rain, the culvert contained approximately 20% sediment and 80% active water flow.

🔧 To thoroughly clean the pipe and assess its condition using our specialised CCTV equipment, we needed to install a pneumatic pipe plug further upstream to halt the flow through our culvert. However, due to the significant water flow, we could only plug the line for around 20 minutes at a time.

🌊 After multiple inflations and deflations of the pipe plug, we successfully completed our scope of work. This allowed us to provide our client with valuable information on the condition of this important asset, ensuring its functionality and reliability.
